The simple & effective way to get more Facebook likes
Recently I looked at our Facebook page and was all, “Noooobody liiiikes us.”
We had been stuck at around 70 or so page Likes for an eternity (real time: 5 or 6 months), and I knew something had to be done. Clearly, sitting around waiting for people to discover the brilliance of our page was not working.
So I did what any self-respecting person would do: I started begging for Likes.

Invitations For Errbody
Okay, so begging is not entirely accurate. What I actually did was take advantage of Facebook’s suggestion that I invite friends to Like the Buildicus page.
If you are the admin of a business page, you know what I’m talking about. There, on the left under the heading “People” you’ll see how many Likes your page has, who of your friends has Liked your business page, and a list of friends you can invite to Like the page. Looks like this:
Inviting friends to Like your page is a very simple process. Click “See All Friends,” then simply click the word “Invite” next to each friend’s name.
That person will be sent an invitation to Like the page, which they will accept (if they’re cool) or reject (if they’re kinda a butthole).
Okay, you’re smart, so you’ll have already figured out what this whole invitation process hinges on, which is: you having friends.
You’ll be surprised to learn that despite my sunny personality, I don’t actually have a lot of Facebook friends. (Pauses for reaction. None? Okay.)
So after inviting all 6 of my friends to Like the Buildicus page, I realized I was going to need a big fish. Someone people actually, you know, like, to help with this mission.

Getting By With A Little Help From Your Friends
As is often the case, I needed my boss, Irma. I knew that if I enlisted the help of Little Miss Popular, as well as the rest of the Edit crew, we could get this train a-moving.
So I very politely asked the team to do me the great favor of going through their friends list and inviting people they thought would be amenable to Like the Buildicus page (and by “very politely asked” I mean, “cried, threatened and swore at them until they finally did it.”)
Here’s what’s cool: Even if you’re not the admin of a page, you can invite people to Like it. The process is identical to what I described above. So all the Edit crew had to do was go to the Buildicus page, look at their lists of friends, then start clicking “Invite.”
Ask and You Shall Receive
Remember how at the beginning of this rambling post I mentioned that we were stuck at around 70 Likes? After asking our friends to Like the Buildicus page, we’re now at 197 and climbing.
That’s an increase of … some percentage. A high one. (Ain’t nobody got time for math, sorry.)
Considering how little time and investment went into it, this is definitely one of the most effective ways I’ve come across to quickly get more Facebook Likes and create opportunities for engagement. Because now all those people who Liked our page are going to see Buildicus updates.
Pro tip: This is something that should be an on-going process. As you gain new friends and followers, make sure to invite them to Like your business page.
And if they invite you to Like a page in return, make sure to return the favor so no one accuses you of being kinda a butthole.
That being said: Like our Facebook page!
