Make Your Website Secure, Rank Higher on Google

According to Mashable, Google has announced that it will start playing favorites, giving secure sites higher priority in search rankings.

What does this mean? It means that sites that are encrypted will show up higher in Google searches. Encrypted means that security measures have been taken to make sure data from website visitors is protected.

How do you know if a site is encrypted? Look at the URL — the web address at the top of a web page. If you see “HTTPS,” then the site is secure. It’s the “S” you’re looking for.

Mashable states that only 56% of sites are secure, and that this move is “part of a greater effort by Google to make the Internet a safer place.
