kid computer

Worried your kids might be spending too much time playing around on their computers and tablets? That isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Fostering an interest in all things web could lead to some big opportunities in the future.

But how to start? Helping your child make a website is a fun and easy way to get him or her on a path that could lead to a very bright future.

Check out these 4 awesome reasons to make a kids website (hint: $$$).

1. Salaries in the tech field are rising

According to the Robert Half 2014 Salary Guide, career positions in the technology field “are expected to see the largest gains among all fields researched, with an anticipated 5.6% increase in the average salary for newly hired workers.” Further, Wanted Analytics reports that “currently, the national average advertised salary range for Software Engineers is $93,000 – $114,000.” And those numbers are expected to rise.

2. College education is not necessarily needed

Guess what? Not all people who work in tech have a four-year university degree. Self-taught programmers can get jobs in the technology field just as easily as those who have college degrees. In fact, almost all of the programmers at Buildicus are folks who taught themselves how to code when they were teenagers.

3. Varied job opportunities abound

There are a number of job opportunities in the technology field that don’t have anything to do with programming or engineering. Website design, copywriting, photography and video creation are examples of jobs that appeal to kids who are interested in the more creative side of tech. Knowing how to write is a good skill; knowing how to write for the web is a marketable skill.

4. Kids can be entrepreneurs

Remember back in the day when you set up a lemonade stand on the corner and charged 25 cents for a Dixie cup full of Country Time? Things are a bit different these days. Now, kids are able to start their own businesses designing websites. Beats getting up at 4 a.m. to deliver newspapers, right?

It’s incredible to think about how something as simple as learning how to create a website while young can have such a strong impact on the future. Check out the blog post I wrote on how easy it is to make a kid’s website, and get started changing your little one’s life today.
