Blogging is hard, right? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat down, determined to write my ass off, and instead ended up staring at my computer screen, impatiently waiting for the words to come (and not the four-letter ones I utter when the ideas for blog topics fail to develop).

If you’re stuck trying to come up with something to write about, look to the holidays for blog topic ideas. Here in America, we have a ton of those – holidays, I mean.

It seems like we can take any small occasion and turn it into a reason for a sale, a giveaway or a drink special. Even the changing of a season can whip people up into a frenzy (do a Pinterest search for “fall” if you don’t believe me).

So think about how your service or product ties into whichever holiday or season is coming up and write about it. How does it make things better or easier for your customers? Perhaps you can save them time, or alleviate their stress in some other way.

You want to tell them exactly how you can make their life better. For example, “We take care of [this] for you, so you can enjoy Arbor Day like it was meant to be enjoyed.” Of course, it goes without saying that if you make promises to your customers, you gotta deliver.

And feel free to look to special occasions that aren’t calendar-listed holidays. A great day to keep on your radar is Small Business Saturday – the day sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday that draws attention to the little guy, like you. Your customers may not know this day exists, so blog about it in the weeks and days leading up to it, and hopefully you’ll be rewarded with a little extra attention.

And by “attention,” I mean money. Or maybe even a high-five. Those are nice once in awhile, too.
